AN ENGLISH “CARTONPIERRE” PÂPIER-MACHÉ CHESS BOARD, by Leuchars, circa 1860, the exterior with black pâpier-maché decoration in the usual Cartonpierre manner, re-backed with red leather, the interior with alternate green and cream squares, with a gilt border, marked; Leuchars, Piccadilly , 52cm wide.
