Chess Made Easy - 1802

Jon's main chess page

This is the first of two copies of Chess Made Easy (Philadelphia, 1802) that I was able to acquire. It is the very first chess book printed in America, although it is a reprint of an earlier London edition, which I also have in the collection. The American version of Chess Made Easy is extremely rare. Frontispiece + 97pp. + 4 unnumbered leaves (ads).

It is highly sought-after by 3 types of collectors: chess collectors, early Americana collectors, and Ben Franklin collectors.

The photo above is borrowed until I receive my copy of the book.
