The tournament book from one of the greatest and most legendary tournaments in chess history.

The world's top players participated - including World Champion Lasker and his immediate predecessor, Steinitz.  But the surprising (or shocking) winner was Harry Nelson Pillsbury, the unknown American player, who stormed onto the chess scene to capture the tournament crown.  He is still known as the "Hero of Hastings".  Pillsbury's final-round victory over Gunsberg, to win the tournament, contains one of the most famous King+Pawn endings in history.

Compiled by Cheshire, published in 1896.
