English Wooden Disc Chess Set

A rare wooden disc chess set, mid 19th century, presumably English by the font of the pieces. The knights look uncannily similar to horses in the Elgin Marbles, from which the Staunton knights were also copied. Subsequent research shows that this design was patented as the Corbould design.
