A BONE FIGURAL BUST SET, Dieppe, 18th century, one side stained a light red colour, the set with further polychrome decoration, the red kings and queens in classical dress, bishops in eighteenth century dress wearing bi-corn hats, knights as sea-horses, rooks as turrets; the opposing side, similar, but with polychrome decoration, knights again as sea-horses, rooks as turrets, pawns with spiked finials and knopped columns, the king 9cm high, the pawn 5cm high. Note the use of sea-horses as knights.
