In the ultra-classic Kholmogory style comes this set from the late 1700's or early 1800's. The white pieces are walrus ivory, the black pieces are stained mammoth ivory.

Note that the Queen is a man, an advisor ("vizier") to the King, or "ferz" in Russian. Rooks are ships, Bishops are elephants.
