Jaques Ivory Set circa 1855 with Carton Pierre Box

A circa 1855 African ivory set with 3.5” tall kings having 1.75” diameter bases. “Jaques London” inscribed to the underside of the white king’s base. This set is in the Andersen-style with stout and heavy knights resembling a Shetland pony more than a horse. Set comes housed in its original Carton-Pierre casket with red paper trade label affixed to the bottom.
